Rob Bowden is one of LTT’s highly esteemed workplace laboratory Trainer/Assessors from Queensland.
He brings an unparalleled diversity of experience to our team from fire assay, minerals and coal, to environmental and construction materials testing (CMT).
Rob started his career in the CMT industry as a trainee lab tech working for CSR Building Products, excelling in concrete mix design, research and development, and investigation work. Rob has been with LTT since 2017, recently celebrating his 5-year anniversary.
“My wife and I were looking for a coastal sea change and ended up picking tropical North Queensland! LTT were amazingly supportive and helped us move to Townsville. The move was a stop-start affair with unprecedented flooding in South-East Queensland, but we managed to safely make the two-day drive up from Brisbane. We are living on the north side of the city on an acre. My wife and Border Collie X love the slower pace and lifestyle change.
I have been fly in fly out (FIFO) for LTT into regional Queensland for many years now, and the growth in the area helped with our decision.
I’m lucky to be working with the biggest and best labs in the region. While I can’t name them all, suffice to say my lab students are testing everything from soil, aggregates, cement, coal, gold, zinc - in fact all sorts of minerals – to water, food and much more. My old concrete mix design experience still comes in handy, but I’m loving the diversity that our industry offers.
I enjoy all client and student interaction and building a name for myself in Queensland. I’m passionate about training people who want to learn and to make a difference to help people get ahead in their chosen career.”

Now that Rob is permanently in Townsville, he is available to train workplace laboratory students on-site in Townsville, Mt Isa and Mackay. Face-to-face training offers the ability to discuss, collaborate and practice.
Rob’s extensive knowledge across multiple lab sectors provides fantastic learning experiences for students, and he is helping ensure the future of the industry is bright.
