IS A CAREER IN PATHOLOGY COLLECTION FOR YOU?

Pathology collectors (also known as phlebotomists) are health care professionals who work as part of larger medical teams in collection centres, hospitals, doctors’ offices, and diagnostic laboratories. The care and attention taken by phlebotomists during sample collection is a critical part of patient care. With an ageing population and the accessibility of new diagnostic methods, doctors and hospitals need pathology collectors and phlebotomists to obtain samples and arrange testing of blood and tissue products.

✔ I’m interested in health care
✔ I want to learn how to take blood
✔ I want to practice alongside a phlebotomist in a clinical workplace
✔ I want to earn a nationally recognised qualification

A good phlebotomist can make all the difference in a patient’s health care journey.

International students, please note that we are not registered with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). Please visit the CRICOS website to view education providers that offer courses to people studying in Australia on student visas.

Please note: We work closely with industry and design our programs to best equip graduates for employment. We advise students to treat work placement as an extended job interview (as providers may recruit new hires from the pool of students on placement in their facilities). However, there is no job outcome guaranteed after finishing a qualification.

As an education provider, we are unable to guarantee a job or provide job agency services for graduates. Ultimately, as with the majority of vocational and tertiary education, it is up to the individual to secure employment post-study. We refer jobseekers to the range of government and non-government organisations who specialise in offering these services. You can find support options at australia.gov.au/information-and-services/jobs-and-workplace/employment-services-and-jobs.
