Real student review: Hilda Ogando October 2, 2020 Sarah Knuckey Hilda and Sahar, laboratory operations trainer assessor. “Before studying at LTT I was working in retail in a chocolate shop. Nothing to do with a laboratory! I wanted a change and to find a more professional job. Back in Venezuela I completed a degree in Chemical Engineering. I didn’t work as a chemical engineer as I decided to go out a travel the world. I ended up in Australia. Now that I am settled here in Perth, I decided it was time to go for it. I was looking into laboratory courses online. After reading all the units of the MSL40118 Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course, I decided this was exactly what I was looking for. The course was really good. Even though I have a chemical engineering background, I learned different things that I have never seen before. The course was so hands-on. There was a lot of practical learning that you can’t learn from a book or online. You get to practice everything you would end up doing in a job. I loved titrations. I love the pink colour! It is so pretty. My trainer, Sahar, was really useful. She was so helpful all the time. She made sure we understood what she was explaining. I have just finished my qualification. With some networking I have now got a FIFO job in the mines for Kalium Potash. They were looking for a laboratory technician, so I’ll start off in a junior position. They are just finishing setting up the brand-new laboratory so I will be one of the first people working in the lab! It is all related to what I have learned here in the lab.It was a good call to study with LTT. I am really happy and looking forward the future!” — Hilda Ogando, MSL40118 Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques student
