“I learnt so much and I developed a passion for chemistry. My trainer, Sahar, made me realise I can do this. She helped me a lot and I really felt supported.”

With no chemical or scientific background prior to studying with LTT, Emanuela was working with Intertek as an XRF Technician just two days after finishing her qualification.

“Intertek were such a great company to work for and it was such a great experience. Due to my husband working shift work, I had to stop working there after 3 months.”

Emanuela was eventually able to recommence full-time work, this time a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician at Materials Consultants. “I was completely prepared for the job. I’ve never had a complaint from my supervisors. They have just enrolled me in the Diploma of Laboratory Technology with LTT too!”

Originally from the Philippines, Pauline chose to study with LTT to pursue a career in science. During her first week of training, employers visited her class to deliver recruitment presentations. “What really excited me about SGS was that they offer a career and not just a job and that got me excited, because that is what I wanted.”

Pauline developed practical skills in laboratory operations, excelling in spectrophotometry and solution preparation. “I love chemistry and this course made me feel more confident about what I am doing in this industry. We also were given more knowledge about the importance of safety and how to keep others around us safe.”

After moving from Russia to Australia in 2013, Elena was working part-time at the post office when she began considering a career change. “There was an environmental lab very close to my house that I would drive past often, which made me think: Should I work in an environmental lab?”

Elena enrolled with LTT after a recommendation from a friend. “It brought back my confidence... I enjoyed all the work we did the lab; I even loved all the calculations!”

Emigrating from Iran with a dream to study chemistry, Gita settled in Australia and began working in community services while raising children. Returning to her love for chemistry, Gita decided to study with LTT.

Within three days of enrolment, Gita was already applying for jobs with family-friendly hours. A qualified chef by trade, Arnel began considering a career change when the pandemic struck, with aspirations to get into the health industry and help the community.
