Alyson Wilson is one of LTT’s talented workplace laboratory Trainer/Assessors from Queensland.

With a background in both pathology and forensic medicine, she is highly skilled in research, testing, and quality control.

Alyson has worked in various laboratory and pathology companies throughout her career. She specialised in forensic medicine which has involved working on homicide cases, human identification, CT imaging, and autopsy cases to find a cause of death.

Chasing the warmth of the sun all year round, I decided to move to far North Queensland. Living here is like being on a tropical holiday every day.

I became a Trainer/Assessor because I’ve always had a passion for teaching, and I enjoy passing on the skills of the industry.

I’m basically a jack of all trades, currently training laboratory operations in pathology, school science, construction materials testing (CMT), coal and minerals.

My goal is to make the training experience a positive one. The best part is watching a student light up when they have an ‘aha moment’. My students are the best part of being a Trainer/Assessor. I enjoy interacting with all of them and sharing my knowledge and skills as it also broadens my perspective as I learn from their ideas and experience.

I have lots of stories of my work experiences which I use in my training. A lot of my students are juggling family, work and study which is a tough gig – one I understand very well as I had this juggle myself. I like to lead by example demonstrating that anything is possible with hard work and commitment. You can achieve anything you set your mind to.

I believe it’s important to ensure that laboratory workers are skilled, as they sustain quality in the laboratory, which results in a high standard of customer service, thus giving the company a good reputation.
