Real student review: Kat August 4, 2020 Sarah Knuckey Kat & Nav Preet at a COVID-19 collection centre. Click here to read Nav Preet’s experience. “I started studying with LTT in January 2020. I finished my HLT37215 Certificate III in Pathology Collection qualification in the last week of February 2020. I chose to study with LTT because they offered the shortest course and accommodate to people with impairments and disabilities. In the short course time, they have you trained, educated and workplace ready. The staff are so nice and welcoming. Before deciding to study with LTT, I was going through a long-term health recovery. I was out of the workforce for a long time. LTT has changed my life in many ways and opened so many pathways for myself and my career. My training experience at LTT was awesome. Joe and Jolanta are great at explaining things when I needed assistance. Kelly, my mentor, was amazing too! She made me feel so comfortable during my work placement. She encouraged my confidence and bleeding skills.I completed my work placement component of the course at Monash Medical Centre. This was great fun, I bled over 100 patients. This helped my confidence grow. I was able to witness ward rounds and venesections which was a really cool experience. I did not think that I would be workplace ready by the end of the course, however with hard-work, dedication, and guidance of LTT’s wonderful trainers, it was definitely possible.I gained employment with 4Cyte Pathology in June 2020. I am currently doing COVID-19 testing. This involves triaging patients, explaining the procedure, swabbing patients (throat and nose), cleaning, filling out day sheets, answering patient’s questions, ordering stock and keeping myself organised.Working as a phlebotomist during the COVID-19 pandemic has been extremely busy, with long hours and big days! But it has been really nice meeting new people every day and working alongside doctors and nurses. We all work together as a team. I have learnt a lot and have gained great experience during this time.” — Kat, HLT37215 Certificate III in Pathology Collection student
