Real student review: Isabella

I’m currently at Murdoch uni studying a bachelor’s in biomedical science, I just have one semester left. At uni we analyse this, analyse that. Whereas at LTT we learnt how to calibrate, how to operate the machines, and actual rules in the lab. At uni they have lab techs set up the equipment for the students. Now I know how to do it!

I came to an info session at LTT Perth as I was actually interested in the pathology collection course. The spoke about the lab course first and I realised that it would match my science degree. They explained how the course works, and how you can work your way up in the lab. I chose to study with LTT because it was only 23 weeks and to complement my degree. The course was really good and really helpful. It was more hands on than my degree.

My favourite part of the MSL40118 Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques course was the lab work. It was really good. It gave me a different perspective; I find that at uni you are quite independent, whereas LTT provide a guideline. This course made it apparent that if I wanted to work in a lab, I can start as a lab tech or lab assistant and work my way up with my degree.

Ultimately, I would like to work in the pathology lab industry.

Sahar is amazing! She explains everything, she teaches you the proper way to do things, as well as alternative methods. If you get stuck, she gives you another way to try and solve the problem. I liked the whole course, it was great.
