Recruitment giant Hays recently reported on the latest in-demand skills for Australia’s mining industry. Growth in the resources sector has created an urgent need for technical professionals and skilled mineral processing workers, including metallurgists and lab technicians.
Hays commented on the increasing rates of vacancy being observed as production and export activity ramps up, particularly for large and mid-tier providers, creating an extensive range of job opportunities.
In Queensland, Victoria, and Western Australia, pre-existing skills shortages in combination with the rise in coal, iron ore, and other mineral processing are creating lots of options for suitably qualified candidates.
Mineral processing plants and laboratories are complex and job titles and duties vary depending on the specific mineral, metal or commodity being processed.
