MSL30122 Certificate III in Laboratory Skills
About
This qualification equips students with practical skills in planning and conducting laboratory field work, recording and presenting data, performing basic tests and standard calibrations, maintaining a laboratory and more.
The course focuses on safety and aims to prepare students for entry level jobs as laboratory personnel, including laboratory assistants, instrument operators, and more.

Duration, location & delivery
Classes are held 2 days a week at our training centre. We're just a two minute walk from Parramatta train station.
LEVEL 2, 23 WENTWORTH STREET, PARRAMATTA NSW 2150
The total course duration is 15 weeks. Class times are 9am-4pm on either Mondays and Tuesdays or Thursdays and Fridays (depending on intake). Classes are occasionally held on different days of the week due to public holidays and office closure days, therefore total course duration may be longer than 15 weeks.
Fees

For students not eligible for government support
$4,680 - fee for service student tuition fee
To secure your place in class, a $300 deposit is payable upon enrolment (cash and EFT facilities are available). This amount is deducted from the total course fee. Weekly, fortnightly or monthly direct debit payment plans are available to distribute payments of the remaining balance ($4,380) over the 15 week period.
For students eligible for government support
This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.
$0 - fee exempt (e.g., fee-free scholarship students) student co-contribution fee
$0 - fee-free Skilling for Recovery program (e.g., 17-24 year old people, Commonwealth Government welfare recipients, an unemployed person or an employed person ‘expected to become unemployed’) student co-contribution fee
$240 - concession student co-contribution fee
$2,680 - students who hold no prior qualification, or a certificate I or lower level qualification student co-contribution fee (payment plans may be available, please contact our team on 1300 588 588 to enquire)
$3,220 - students who hold a certificate II or higher level qualification student co-contribution fee (payment plans may be available, please contact our team on 1300 588 588 to enquire)

Assessment
Students are assessed on their performance in practical and written assessments.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) and credit transfer processes are available. Please contact our team on 1300 588 588 to discuss these options further if you believe you may be eligible for RPL or credit transfer (for equivalent units of competency completed previously). A copy of the original transcript must be provided if applying for a credit transfer.
Should you withdraw before completing the course and / or your clinical work placement hours, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for any units of competency achieved.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive the MSL30122 Certificate III in Laboratory Skills, which will carry the Nationally Recognised Training logo.
Requirements

No prior qualifications are required to study the MSL30122 Certificate III in Laboratory Skills. While there are no formal entry requirements for the course, a general interest in mathematics and chemistry is recommended, and basic computer literacy is advantageous.
On the basis of industry recommendation, and to improve employment prospects, students must be at least 17 years old to undertake the qualification.
As part of the enrolment process, a comprehensive pre-training review is conducted to capture current competencies (including language, literacy and numeracy). This process also aids in identifying individual learning styles and any support services that may be required so that training delivery can be tailored accordingly.
Students are required to wear closed-in shoes throughout the course, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as instructed during lab work.
